ScanNexa — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 12 October 2026 · Publisher: DS Labs · Android package: com.dslabs.scannexa
This Privacy Policy explains how ScanNexa: QR & Barcode Scanner handles information when you use the Android app. It applies only to ScanNexa and not to other DS Labs apps or games.
1. Core app data and local processing
ScanNexa is designed as a local-first QR code and barcode utility. The app can scan codes with the camera, scan codes from images you select, create QR codes, keep scan and generated-code history, organize saved items, and save or share generated QR images.
Scan results, history, generated-code content, favorites and related app preferences may be stored locally on your device in the app's local database or preferences. DS Labs does not operate a ScanNexa account service or a publisher-operated server that receives this local scan history.
2. Camera and images
Camera access is used to detect QR codes and barcodes that you choose to scan. Camera frames are used for the scanning function and are not intentionally uploaded by ScanNexa to DS Labs.
When you choose to scan an existing image, ScanNexa uses Android's system-provided document or media selection mechanisms to access the item you select. The selected image is used to detect codes. ScanNexa does not require access to your entire photo library merely to select an image through these system mechanisms.
3. QR code creation, PNG files, export and sharing
Information that you enter into the QR creator is used to generate the requested QR code and may be retained locally if you save it in the app. Generated QR images may be saved as PNG files to device storage when you request this.
If you use Android's share functionality, the content or PNG file you select is provided to the external app or service you choose. That third party processes the shared information under its own privacy policy. DS Labs does not control the recipient service after you choose to share.
4. Advertising and Google services
ScanNexa integrates Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads SDK to display interstitial advertising at appropriate natural breaks in the app. Google and its advertising partners may process information needed to provide, measure, secure and, where permitted, personalize advertising. Depending on your device, settings, region and consent choices, this can include IP address, device and advertising identifiers when available, app interactions, ad interactions, diagnostic information, approximate location inferred from network information, and privacy/consent signals.
ScanNexa does not use rewarded advertising as a condition for accessing a reward mechanic, and it does not use banner advertising as part of the current product design.
For more information about Google's processing, see the Google Privacy Policy and Google AdMob privacy guidance.
5. Consent and privacy choices
Where required, ScanNexa uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request and manage advertising privacy choices. The options shown can vary by region and applicable law. Where available, you may revisit privacy choices from within the app. You can also use Android and Google account/device settings to manage advertising and privacy controls.
Declining personalized advertising does not necessarily remove all advertising. Non-personalized or limited ads may still be shown where permitted.
6. Data sharing
DS Labs does not sell ScanNexa's locally stored scan history or QR creator content. Information may leave the device only when required by an integrated third-party service such as Google advertising/consent services, when required by law, or when you deliberately export, save or share content using Android features.
7. Retention and deletion
Locally stored ScanNexa data generally remains on your device until you delete individual items, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app, subject to Android backup or restore behavior that may apply on your device. PNG files that you save outside the app remain under your control until you delete them from their storage location.
Information processed by Google or other external services is retained according to those providers' policies, settings and applicable legal requirements.
8. Legal bases and regional rights
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, processing necessary for ScanNexa's local features is performed to provide functionality you request. Advertising-related processing may rely on consent, legitimate interests, legal obligations or other grounds available under applicable law, depending on the specific processing and jurisdiction.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal data, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority. Residents of jurisdictions with specific privacy rights, including certain U.S. states, may also have rights regarding targeted advertising, sale or sharing as those terms are defined by applicable law. Available in-app and Google privacy controls should be used where they apply to advertising data.
9. Children
ScanNexa is a general-purpose scanning utility and is not designed specifically for children. If applicable law requires parental or guardian authorization for a user's processing, the app must be used consistently with those requirements. If you believe personal information relating to a child has been handled improperly, contact DS Labs.
10. Security
ScanNexa is designed to minimize publisher-side handling of scan content by keeping core history and generated-code data on the device. No technical system can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for deciding what information to encode in a QR code and where to save or share exported files.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when ScanNexa's features, SDKs, data practices or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are published.
